I see nature as an artist — creating endlessly and without limits. I don’t try to analyze her or imitate her. I simply admire her and let myself be moved by her presence.

Her current artistic work and research focus on contemporary nature-based art (Eco Art), exploring the relationship between form, matter, and the Earth’s energy. In her practice, she engages with themes of transience, light, erosion, and cyclical processes, resulting in nature-inspired photo books.

In recent years, she has concentrated on personal, intimate Eco Art — earth-based art inspired by the observation of nature and its fleeting phenomena. As an attentive observer, she intuitively selects frames, textures, surprising compositions, and color arrangements that reveal themselves to her in a given moment. She captures them through her own photographic language, guided by sensitivity and inner intuition.

These explorations culminate in unique series presented as eco-lightboxes — illuminated installations that merge light, image, and the organic beauty of nature into a contemporary, contemplative form. Her works reflect on the relationship between humans and nature, and on the fragility and strength inherent in natural matter.

She is the initiator and author of numerous artistic
projects in Poland and abroad — from painting and graphic
exhibitions (including at the El Greco Museum in Crete), to multimedia and performative works (Venice Art Biennale 2019), and large-scale costume spectacles presented on the stage of the Dresden Opera during the SemperOpernball 2016.
As a producer and artistic director, she has led projects such as GAIA – Green Earth at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, as well as multiple public art actions.

She specializes in working with creative teams, bringing together art, technology, and history to craft unique visual performances. With passion, she supports young artists, believing that art education is essential for shaping the culture of the future. Under her artistic direction, students of the Higher School of Art have presented their work at prestigious events both in Poland and internationally.

At the Warsaw School of Arts, she has for years led her own studio dedicated to theatrical and film make-up techniques, and she develops curricula in costume
design and visual arts. As an artist and educator, she has
played a key role in shaping the school’s
artistic profile and academic programs.

Agata Manowska is the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Warsaw School of Arts. An interdisciplinary artist, she combines performative, educational, and curatorial practices.
